PFAM accession number:PF02273
Interpro abstract (IPR003157):

LuxD proteins are bacterial acyl transferases. Together with an acyl-protein synthetase (LuxE) and reductase (LuxC), they form a multienzyme complex. This complex channels activated fatty acids into the aldehyde substrate for the luciferase-catalyzed bacterial bioluminescence reaction [ (PUBMED:11018714) (PUBMED:8472957) ].

GO process:fatty acid metabolic process (GO:0006631)
GO function:transferase activity, transferring acyl groups (GO:0016746)
