  The phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS), a major carbohydrate active-transport system, catalyses the phosphorylation of incoming sugar substrates concomitant with their translocation across the cell membrane.

  This family includes the IIC component of the ascorbate-specific PTS system, UlaA, [ (PUBMED:14996803) ] and the IIC component of the galactitol-specific PTS system.
