Fimbrillin_C

Fimbrillin_C
PFAM accession number:PF15495
Interpro abstract (IPR029140):

This entry represents the C-terminal domain of the major fimbrial subunit protein (also known as Fimbrillin or FimA). FimA is the structural subunit of the fimbriae, which are filamentous appendages on the cell surface. Fimbriae of Porphyromonas gingivalis are recognised as a major virulence factor as they mediate cell adhesion and play an important role in invasion of periodontal tissues [ (PUBMED:17081195) ].

Proteins containing this domain also include Mfa1, which is a structural subunit of the minor fimbriae [ (PUBMED:26001707) ].

This is a PFAM domain. For full annotation and more information, please see the PFAM entry Fimbrillin_C
