Proteins containing this domain are thought to be glucose/sorbosone dehydrogenases. The best characterised of these proteins is soluble glucose dehydrogenase ( P13650 ) from Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, which oxidises glucose to gluconolactone. The enzyme is a calcium-dependent homodimer which uses PQQ as a cofactor [ (PUBMED:10508152) ].
