Proteins containing this domain are thought to be glucose/sorbosone dehydrogenases. The best characterised of these proteins is soluble glucose dehydrogenase (P13650) from Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, which oxidises glucose to gluconolactone. The enzyme is a calcium-dependent homodimer which uses PQQ as a cofactor [(PUBMED:10508152)].
