BID_2Bacterial Ig-like domain 2
|SMART accession number:||SM00635
|| - |
|Interpro abstract (IPR003343):
||Proteins that contain this domain are found in a variety of bacterial and phage surface proteins such as intimins as well as in some uncharacterised eukaryote proteins. Intimin is a bacterial cell-adhesion molecule that mediates the intimate bacterial host-cell interaction. It contains three domains; two immunoglobulin-like domains and a C-type lectin-like module implying that carbohydrate recognition may be important in intimin-mediated cell adhesion [(PUBMED:10201396)].
There are 12734 BID_2 domains in 5103 proteins in SMART's nrdb database.
