eIF-3c_N
PFAM accession number:PF05470
Interpro abstract (IPR008905):

The largest of the mammalian translation initiation factors, eIF3, consists of at least eight subunits ranging in mass from 35 to 170kDa. eIF3 binds to the 40 S ribosome in an early step of translation initiation and promotes the binding of methionyl-tRNAi and mRNA [ (PUBMED:8995409) ]. The N-terminal domain of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit C mediates eIF3 binding to eIF1 and eIF5 [ (PUBMED:22718758) ].

GO process:translational initiation (GO:0006413)
GO component:eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 complex (GO:0005852)
GO function:translation initiation factor binding (GO:0031369), translation initiation factor activity (GO:0003743)
